Searching the Database

The power of Oregon Invests! rests in its ability to search for one or more projects or programs that interest you and to display them quickly. Start on the search page (click on "Search" at the top of any page). You will find several ways to search. They include:

Counties affected
A search specifying "All" counties returns all projects or programs that affect one or more counties in Oregon. A search for single county will return all projects or programs that affect that particular county, but please note that those projects or programs may also affect other counties than the one you searched for. Make your choice from the pull-down menu.

Topic
Searches the detailed project or program description for any words you have entered in your search request. It then returns all projects or programs in which your search words appear in the description.

Academic home or unit
You may search for all projects, without regard to academic home or unit ("All"), or you may specify your interest in a single academic home or unit. Make your choice from the pull-down menu.

Last name of faculty member
Use this to find all projects or programs directed by a faculty member whose work interests you. Please note, however, that the search will yield results showing projects or programs for every principal investigator whose last name matches the one you entered. In those cases, it may help to search also by the unit name with which the faculty member is affiliated, and use the "ALL" option explained below.

Wider or narrower?
You may specify criteria mentioned above and ask Oregon Invests! to find projects or programs that match ANY of your criteria. This will find a greater number of projects and programs. Alternatively, you may ask Oregon Invests! to find only those projects or programs that match ALL of your criteria. This will find fewer, more specific matches.
